Goals and strategies

Service Line Orthopaedics is focusing mainly on organic growth of existing clinics.

The opportunities for additional acquisitions in Sweden to strengthen the market position are being examined. This field does not really meet the selection criteria for a Global Health Partner Service Line in terms of the opportunity for regional dominance and access to specialists. As a way of supplementing the other Service Lines with a view to increasing capacity utilisation for start-ups in new markets, however, there is a strategic value outside Sweden, too. The requirements of the orthopaedic clinics are the same in terms of operating theatres, wards, etc., as those of the spinal surgery clinics, and it is appropriate, therefore, to make joint use of new premises. Its size and breadth mean that orthopaedics is often performed by private healthcare providers on most markets, thus making it a good "gateway" for agreements with various purchasers, both in the private and public sector.

The strategy for the two well-established, existing clinics in Sweden remains one of organic growth and healthy profit development. This will be done by:

  • Streamlining the operation through quality-driven incentives, high volumes and efficient treatment processes
  • Strengthening the brand name in Sweden so that more patients choose an Ortho Center as their healthcare provider
  • Focusing more on the insurance company market.
